* A scientific study about the beneficial effects of Sahaja Yoga Meditation on the brain has just been published in PLOS ONE, a major neuroscience journal. It reveals that regular practitioners of Sahaja Yoga meditation have larger (around 7%) grey matter overall. In addition, the parts of the brain which are responsible for attention, self-control, emotion control, compassion, and introspection are more developed. Given that grey matter declines with age, this means that regular practitioners of Sahaja Yoga have younger brains. The full study can be read here

What is meditation?
Meditation is a form of silent inner contemplation, where we try to still the thoughts in our head and move into a state of profound peace. The process is completely natural, it is not self-hypnosis or trance, and over time can produce significant benefits in our emotional, psychological and physical well-being.

Sahaja Meditation is based on the ancient practices developed over thousands of years in the Far East, and offers practitioners a direct and powerful method of bringing balance to their lives and environment. Each meeting covers the basics and includes a guided meditation session, so that you can start meditating at home straight away.

Try it now! Even sitting before your computer screen, by following some simple steps, you can experience meditation. Click here.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is the founder of Sahaja Yoga. She is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest spiritual teacher of our times. The knowledge of Sahaja Yoga is ancient, and existed in the traditions of many religions and cultures. However it was known only by very few people. It is thanks to Shri Mataji that it has become widely available, in a way that many people can get self-realization quickly, and easily. With practice of Sahaja Yoga, anyone can have direct access to truth, and therefore become their own spiritual guide.

Shri Mataji traces her ancestry back to the royal Shalivahana dynasty of India. She was born Nirmala Salve, and upon marriage became Nirmala Srivastava. Her husband was Sir C.P. Srivastava, who in the course of his illustrious career, was unanimously elected four times consecutively to the most senior position in the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization, thus serving as the Secretary-General from 1974 to 1989.

More about Shri Mataji is available here.
